The Hawaiian brand, livery, and hospitality identity are being retained while back-office systems and labor structures integrate through 2026. The single most important fact for applicants: Hawaiian remains a SEPARATE flight attendant program — its own hiring track, its own 8-week Honolulu training, its own AFA contract, its own seniority list, and its own bases — reached through the combined Alaska Air Group portal (careers.alaskaair.com). There is no flight-attendant flow-through from Hawaiian into Alaska mainline (or anywhere else) — flow-through is a pilot-program concept; if you want to fly for Alaska Airlines, apply to Alaska Airlines.
Hiring-window status (as of August 2026): CLOSED. Hawaiian hiring now runs on the Alaska window model — "Applications will only be accepted during posted hiring windows." The mid-2026 window closed July 22, 2026 at 7:00 pm PDT (the exact open date of the Hawaiian posting was not independently verified; Alaska's parallel posting opened July 20). No verified applicant totals exist for Hawaiian waves — the pool skews local, but Hawaii residency is not required, and no competition ratio can be honestly published.
Baseline requirements (combined careers page and 2026 posting language, checked August 2026): minimum age 21; high school diploma or GED plus "2 years customer or community service experience" per the combined requirements block; must read, write, and speak English proficiently; U.S. work authorization and unrestricted international travel eligibility (specific passport-validity months not verified for the Hawaiian posting). Relocation language: "Be able to relocate within Hawaii or the continental U.S." Two myths to reject up front: Hawaiian does not only hire locals, and you are not required to speak Hawaiian (or Japanese) — no bilingual requirement or language-track posting was verified in the 2026 wave.
