For a flight attendant candidate, the headline corporate fact is this: Sun Country was acquired by Allegiant — the deal was announced January 11, 2026 and completed May 13, 2026 (~$1.5 billion including ~$0.4 billion net debt). As of August 2026 Sun Country still operates independently on its own certificate, under its own FA contract, with careers messaging stating "Sun Country Airlines is now part of Allegiant... each airline continues to operate independently today." FA hiring continues on careers.suncountry.com, which now cross-promotes Allegiant openings. Expect eventual integration questions (fleet, cross-training, seniority) only after single-certificate operations — the existing union contracts remain in effect meanwhile.
Hiring-window status (as of August 2026): OPEN. The official FA careers page showed an active "Apply Now" flow for flight attendant classes across four bases (listed below), with application made to a specific base. Sun Country hires into scheduled training classes per base rather than one national annual wave. The workgroup is small — nearly 800 FAs at the January 2025 union agreement-in-principle — so single classes fill quickly.
Baseline requirements, verbatim from careers.suncountry.com (checked August 2026): "Must be 20 years or older at the end of initial training" — note 20, not 21, an unusual and genuine differentiator for younger candidates — "High school diploma or equivalent," "Ability to read, write, understand, and clearly speak in English," "Basic computer knowledge," and — the big gate — a "Minimum of two years direct customer service experience." That two-year experience requirement is required, not preferred (stricter than Allegiant's preferred one year), and candidate reports say it actually gets probed at interview. Also required: a valid passport with "at least six months validity at the start of training" and ability to travel to any country Sun Country serves.
The industry-wide caution applies here too: there is no flight-attendant flow-through to a mainline carrier — flow-through is a pilot-program concept — and being Allegiant-owned does not create an automatic pipeline into Allegiant cabins either; the two airlines hire separately as of August 2026.
